Occupy Ottawa to run indefinitely - Interview with Joey Keithley of DOA

Unscene visits Occupy Ottawa

Today Unscene was there to witness Brigette DePape of famed "Stop Harper" protest announce the Occupy Ottawa is here and will be running indefinitely. Her announcement was received with loud cheers from the over 500 people in attendance who voted on where the final site of the occupation will rest.

A very political process was utilized to reach a concensus to decide where to set up camp. The choices were Confederation Park, Majors Hill Park or Parliament hill - the crowd chose Confederation Park. It was announced that a Canadian Union will be supplying Tents and Port-o-Potties and that every effort possible will be made to make the means available for those in need to attend indefinetly.

Joey Keithley of DOA on Occupy Movements

UNSCENE gets an EXCLUSIVE interview with Joey "Shithead" Keithley of Vancouver Hardcore Punk band DOA at the Occupy Ottawa Rally.

Keithley took to the stage right after the crowd reached a concesus to occupy Confederation Park in Ottawa Indefinatly. As the crowd cheered at the announcements of Tents and Port-O-Potties to be supplied by a large Canadian union - Keithley got ready to take the stage. Right after his performance we got to ask why he was supporting these movements personally.

Keithley shares family history and talks about why our generation(under 30) needs be less apolitical and talks about how he feelsthese movements will wake the youth up about the dire need for social justice. Keithey relates to how the 99% slogan is something that people can understand and how he feels it will get the message out.
